HÉLÈNE MONTPETIT
CANADIAN CONTEMPORARY ARTIST| Montreal
Artist Statement
I paint moments that catch my attention and stay with me — a person feeding pigeons in the park, a friend sharing a moment with his grandchild, someone bracing against the cold by the sea. These scenes, whether found in photographs or drawn from personal experience, become a way to explore how people live, endure, and connect in everyday life. My recent works — Largesse, The View, Intrepid, and mOTHERhood — reflect this focus: generosity, curiosity across generations, resilience, and the weight of long‑held personal struggles. I work across several media, always aiming to make the ordinary feel worth a second, closer look.
