HÉLÈNE MONTPETIT
CANADIAN CONTEMPORARY ARTIST| Montreal
Faces
I do not rush when I paint a face. I spend hours—two, sometimes three—tracing the quiet geography of a brow, the curve of a cheek, the way light lingers at the edge of a smile. In that time, I discover things that a passing glance would never reveal: the hidden tenderness in an expression, the resilience etched into lines, the stories that live in silence. Faces is my attempt to honor those discoveries. These portraits are not just likenesses of artists, musicians, friends, and family—they are meditations on presence. Each canvas is a dialogue between what is seen and what is felt, between the surface and the soul. For inquiries about available works, please contact me here.
