Your Walls, My Art

Put your stamp on your space: hang a quirky painting that reflects your  unique style and personality; add a bit of freshness and nostalgia to your writing desk or a little bling to wake up a room; keep your loved ones ever present in your environment or welcome your guests with an image of calm and serenity.

With the right artwork and frame, you can enhance the beauty of your home and show your true colours.

Here is what people who have welcomed my art into their homes have to say.

Helene tried a few times to create a portrait of me, but none of the early ones felt quite right to her. Then one morning, she emailed me her latest version — and I gasped. I saw myself there. Or more precisely, I saw a version of myself I’d love to be more often. There’s wisdom in that face… and a sense of humour, too. I think she also captured the meditative quality that sometimes comes over me when I’m watching the ocean or sitting in a quiet garden. I keep the portrait on my piano, where I often work. It reminds me — and inspires me — to be more like the woman in the drawing.

The other artwork I keep on my piano is called Weyalloh. I first saw it in Helene’s studio and was immediately drawn in. It had bold energy and a slightly vintage feel — I remember blurting out, “Oh! Pop art with a twist!” It’s full of life, humour, and artistic play. Every time I visited her studio, I’d find myself gravitating toward that piece. And then, one day, Helene came to visit… with Weyalloh wrapped as a birthday gift. Now, whenever I see it sitting on my piano, I smile. It never fails to lift my spirits.

This piece is titled “Cousin Val, The Banjo Gal”, painted by my Cousin Helene. When I look at it, it speaks to me of the many connections (emotional, generational and spiritual) that music and painting create. Here, there is also a very special connection; both the artist and the subject are my Family!

Click on the images in our gallery to learn more about each piece, including its title and collector's home status. Enjoy the stories behind the art!
